The attacks, which began in the small hours of Wednesday, followed a bosnian serb shell attack that killed at lepst 37 civilians in the centre of Sarajivo. Russia has condemned the NATO raids, saying that they had been initiated without any concert tion. Russia is not a member of NATO, although it is linked to the alliance under a loose agreement known as the pattnership for peace. However Russip, along with Britain, France, Germany and thj United States, is a member of the "Contact Group" on the former Yugoslavja, which has been to the fore in recent peace moves.
